Reduced Vertical Seperation Minimum

[Pilots] [ATC]

The application of Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) in the RVSM airspace provided six additional flight levels between FL290 and FL410.
This result has been achieved by reducing vertical separation minima from 2.000 feet to 1.000 feet. At this time, on IVAO, FL300, FL320, FL340, FL360, FL380 and FL400 can be requested in flight plans in the following regions.

Pilots:

Only aircraft with height measuring equipment complying with Minimum Aircraft System Performance Specification regarding altimetry (MASPS) can fly under RVSM rules.
The precision of simulated instruments and the lack of a real backup altimetry system (independent from the main altimeter) in supported flight simulators (MSFS, X-Plane) allow all aircraft to be flown under RVSM conditions. Pilots are required to select the W box (W - RVSM (FL290-FL410)) from the Radio and Navigation Equipment window, (or add it manually in box 10) of the IVAO International flight plan form of their pilot client (IvAp, X-IvAp) to indicate their capability of flight in RVSM airspace.

ATC:

If the position you are controlling includes RVSM airspace make sure you check the RVSM box in IvAc under PVD->Label/Route Options/Cleared Flight Level Section. This will enable you to use the RVSM levels above FL290 by enabling 1000 feet seperation. You should also be familiar with the seperation criteria and exeptions of the RVSM airspace.
