10:00 - IVAO MALTA AIRSHOW 2006 - DAY 2
After the hot summer weather on the Maltese Islands, MT-Division is hosting another spectacular event which we hope it will be enjoyed by everyone on IVAO. Every year for the last 13 years in September Malta plays host to the Malta International Airshow where various Military and Civil aircraft mostly from European Countries take part in this event. The date for this event will be the weekend of Friday 29th September till Monday 2nd October 2006, a weekend after the Malta International Airshow 2006 which is on 22nd - 24th September.

1. Day 1 - Arrivals of All Participants.
2. Day 2 - 1st Day of the Airshow - Air Displays for Teams / Squadrons / Individuals.
3. Day 3 - 2nd Day of the Airshow - Air Displays for Teams / Squadrons / Individuals.

17:00 - In memoriam Malév 240
Budapest - 29th September, 1975, 23.10: Following multiple departure time modifications, the go ahead is finally given and MALÉV flight 240 finally takes off from Budapest’s Ferihegy airport (LHBP). Throughout the day it had seemed that the flight would be cancelled, as conditions are so bad in Beirut that the airport could not even be contacted.
This flight is equipped with a full tank of fuel and will have to stop somewhere on the return journey to refuel. Weather conditions are absolutely perfect and the aircraft itself is only one year old, HA-LCI (construction number 74A-053, previous registration CCCP-85053) having arrived from Aeroflot on June 1st.
September 30th, 02.33: HA-LCI leaves Cyprus’ airspace and contacts Lebanon air traffic control. There are still approximately twenty minutes until arrival and the aircraft is given permission to descend to 6,000 feet, then permission to land.
What happened thereafer, however, is unclear. According to a local TV documentary, the aircraft was turned back by "someone" and asked to maintain a holding pattern. It then disappeared forever from radar screens. It was soon apparent that the aircraft had crashed into the sea
On Sunday the 30th of September we will organise a silent memorial groupflight flight in remembrance of those people on board of Malév 240 (HA-LCI) Tu-154. Starting from LHBP to OLBA at 17:00ZULU.

ETE: 2 hours 45 minutes
Suggested alternate aerodomes: OSDI (Damascus Intl 57 nm), LCLK (Larnaca 112 nm), LLBG (Ben Gurion 113 nm).
