Fire Fight Event 2011 09/08/2011 11/09/2011 Fire is a natural phenomenon in Mediterranean countries, where the summers usually have high temperatures, rainfall is low, evaporation is high and vegetation due to summer dryness becomes highly flammable, thus facilitating the spontaneous development of fire , or which is triggered by human action. Every year, the Civil Protection in Portugal organizes a mechanism for preventing and fighting forest fires, this action serves as inspiration for the goal that we propose: Simulating an event within the network of IVAO air combat forest fires. Pilots who complete Fly in or Fly out AND complete the leg between Shun Tak Heliport (VHST) and Macau Heliport(either departure from Macau or Shun Tak) , will get a Special Operation (SO)Badge.

As to recreate the scence of the real Macau/Hong Kong Heli Shuttle, we created a booking system for pilots to book a time slot.
Sky Shuttle provides helicopter shuttle services from 1200z to 1600z between Macau and Hong Kong with flights departing every 15 minutes.

p.s this time slot is only for Helicopter (VMMT->VHST or VHST->VMMT)
You could also come without a flight booking (but please do not directly log on to the helipad as this will cause ATC a big big trouble and will interup the scheduled flights)

p.p.s pilots who booked a time slot should login to the VHHH_Z_TWR TS channel or VMMC_TWR TS channel and starts to monitor the channel 5-10mins earlier than the ETD.
3mins before ETD, pilots should report to ATC with their Callsign and time slot No.
Pilots who where non-scheduled, should login to the VHHH_Z_TWR TS channel or VMMC_TWR TS channel and report to the ATC, ATC will arrange you a time slot as soon as possible, but non-scheduled pilots should expect there will be delays for them.
For the TS server of the channel of VHHH_Z_TWR, please refer to the ATIS.

Sky Shuttle Helicopters: [ICAO] EMU [Callsign] East Asia is a helicopter service operator based in Macau. It operates helicopter routes between Macau, Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Dear Pilots

The Netherlands and the Swiss divisions presents

From Maastricht to Samedan.

Come and try out your skills for this pre-winter season shuttle event between the Netherlands and the highest airport & most unique VFR approach in the middle on the Swiss Mountains.

During this event we will test your piloting skills but also your flight preparation as you will have to be right on time. You will need to calculate your EET taking in consideration the winds, the delay on departure or en route and you need to take into consideration that 8-10 min will be needed to do the approach from PELAD to RWY03 in Samedan.

Rules

As Samedan does not have much space on the Apron, we request that you respect the timing of the slot you have chosen, therefore we ask you to cancel you IFR flight plan over PELAD at least 8 min before your allocated slot.

No aircraft bigger than a B737 or similar will be accepted at Samedan, pilots flying a bigger aircraft will be diverted to Zurich (LSZH).

Please book your flight, all non scheduled aircrafts will be put into a hold due to the limited space on ground and the VFR arrival which gives requires some time to execute.

Some facts
  • Europe highest Airport (5.600ft)
  • Short Runway 1800 x 40 meters (5905 x 130ft)

    AtlasBlue event day 08/09/2008 21/09/2008

Moroccan division organizes a special event to celebrate the opening of the virtual ATLASBLUE airline on September 21st. This event will join both of Casablanca Mohamed V ( GMMN ) and Marrakech El-Menara ( GMMX ) airports to principal European cities. ATC will be available for 5 hours (12.00z to 17.00z)

For more realism, the organizers of this event placed at the disposal of the participants a timetable where it can book a flight (including the flight N°, the flight plan, the time of departure (for the flights in departure of Morocco) or arrival time (for the flights in destinations to Morocco). (SEE THE RULES)

The STAFF of Moroccan division insists on the fact that the participants must be able to arrive in time according to the Estimated Time of Departure (ETD) or Landing (ETA), to have the charts of the airports on board, to be able to enter into the  Holding circuits without any difficulty according to the Holdings published on the charts. It's preferably to have voice (delay avoidance),

The pilots who didn't make a reservation on the timetable must know that the registered participants have the priority for landing and takeoff, so of this fact they will have to expect a circle-to-Land.

Goodbye Kai Tak, and thank you! 26/07/2008 05/07/2008

Goodbye Kai Tak, and thank you!

On July 5, 1998 Hong Kong-based Dragon Air's Flight HDA841 from Chongqing, China, was the last to land at 1538Z. The last commercial flight to leave Hong Kong's old Kai Tak Airport was the CPA251 flight to London Heathrow Airport. The plane left at midnight local time (1602Z) and was piloted by Captain Kim Sharman, a 21-year veteran who was retiring after the flight.

The new airport was officially opened on 6 July 1998; and in a testament to logistical planning, all the essential airport supplies and vehicles that were left in the old airport for operation were transported to Chek Lap Kok in one early morning with a single massive move.

On July 6, 1998 at 1:17 am local time (1717Z), Director of Civil Aviation, Mr. R A Siegel on the light-out ceremony : "It will always be special in our hearts, not only here in Hong Kong but also to many people around the world. Kai Tak has truly been one of the world's great airports but tonight we must say good bye to our old friend. The last passenger has arrived, the last flight has departed, the runway is silent and it is now time to turn off the lights which have safely guided thousands of arriving aircraft. Goodbye Kai Tak and thank you."

After the last plane, a Cathay Pacific A340, took off from Kai Tak at 1:28 am. Kai Tak was subsequently closed, transferring its ICAO and IATA airport codes to the replacement airport at Chek Lap Kok.

On that day at 6:25 a.m., the first flight to land at the new Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, was the Cathay Pacific flight CPA889 from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport, USA, non-stop and flying over the North Pole. This flight was named Polar One.

Don't cry! We have Kai Tak forever!

On July 5th 2008 8:00 PM Beijing Time (July 5th 1200Z), IVAO China Division will hold an event on Kai Tak and Chek Lap Kok until 2:00 AM next day, to recall our memories about that happened a decade ago.

During event, flights with destination VHHH or VHHX:

Entering Hong Kong FIR during July 5th 1200Z to 1559Z: Expect landing on Kai Tai (VHHX)

Entering Hong Kong FIR during July 5th 1600Z to 1800Z: Expect landing on Chek Lap Kok (VHHH)

And we expected that flight CAP251, which booked in booking system, could take off on 1602Z from Kai Tai as accuracy as possible, and all other booked flights could begin their transfer flight to Chek Lap Kok on 1603Z, full throttle.

Please note that the operation of Kai Tai will follow the published charts of Kai Tai strictly. We recommend that you use Kai Tai’s SID/STAR for flights departing/arriving VHHX. We also will provide ATC service covering both VHHH and VHHX.

Aerosoft Lukla Air Bridge 05/04/2008 20/04/2008

Lukla has been closed for 21 solid days because of clouds and high winds and it is the start of the Mount Everest climbing season. At least 7 expeditions are waiting at Kathmandu. Tons of equipment are waiting in the hangars of the airport. The Met office just told everybody there will be a 6 hour weather window and small turbines are flying in from all over the region to make use of these hours. As small turbine transporters are flying into the area to make some serious money (of course price per ton is now as high as the mountains are), complex discussions are going on with the two controllers at Lukla. There are only six stands on the airport and one as we all know getting to and from the airport is a rather complex task. Although weather should be clear there will still be strong winds to make it even more complex.

    BOOKING INSTRUCTIONS

    • You must calculate your time enroute from VNKT to VNLK. Your slot will be valid for +/- 5 minutes. If you miss your assigned slot, you will be put into a holding pattern until a new slot has opened.
    • You are allowed on the ground at VNLK for a maximum of 15 minutes. You must book a an arrival slot into VNLK and a departure slot NO MORE than 15 minutes later. Turn-arounds longer than 15 minutes will be penalized.

Air Raid to Cape Horn 21/10/2007 27/10/2007

This Event will celebrate The First Flyover of Cape Horn, on February 1929, by a naval-german pilot Gunther von Pluschow employing a little hydroplane.

This will be a controlled flight from Punta Arenas arpt (SCCI) up to the famous and emblematic Cape Horn (the most dangerous geographical point of worldwide maritime navigation, specially during the remembered Sailing Boats Age).

This little Horn Island with its magestic granitic high rock and its famous lighthouse, have been a mute witness of many shipwrecks (more than 1000 ships), horrors and sufferings since 1616. So, the fierce Drake Sea, in front of Cape Horn, is a gigantic collective cemetery (for more than 10000 victims).

This Event remember us: this highly dangerous point to sail and cross even today, due to severe storms, hurricane crossed winds and waves till 30 meters high; this Horn Island is the last proud summit of extended Andes Mountains, sunked there into Drake Sea; the real End of the World indeed; besides the end of America Continent; and finally the mysterious entrance of Antarctic Kingdom.

But above all, for any seaman the Cape Horn represents a cathedral, a sacred land, a very high honour if successfully turned the Cape... After Cape Horn overflied, the pilots will return to the Continent bounding for Port Williams arpt (SCGZ) in Navarino Island, next to the famous Beagle Channel (by the first time sailed by HMS Beagle on 1832, with Charles Darwin on board).

Then, come and fly with us!. Take your screenshots as historic evidence and personal souvenir.

    Saturday October 27th 2007, from 1100Z to 2300Z

And now for an additional briefing from IL-FOC, Etai:

    : והנה התדריך מאיתי

    Dear Pilots,
Wellcome to the weekly IVAO-Israel division event! As my friend Micha, IL-EC Included the relevant flight plan for friday, I would like to add my own recommendations about the piloting related issues.

Don't forget to log in AT LEAST half an hour before your slot time, it is majorly important that each and every aircraft will be ready on time. Ready the FMC correctly with all the details required for the flight, ready the whole system fully for pushback BEFORE the clearance, except for the details supplied by the clearance itself, and don't forget the coffee of tea that would keep you allert during departure.

I've decided to exclude the expected SID, in order to prevent misunderstanding. You will get the proper SID from the controller, don't forget to be equipped with a paper and a pen for clearance.

The expected STAR would be be NIMD1W, and the active runway would probobly be 34. Thus, prepare your navigation equipment and or FMS's. As in the chart, also FMS equipped aircrafts, expect RNAV transition, probobly BAL1N, as connection for ILS runway 34. It may also be BAL1M for ILS runway 29.

The weather might be a bit "winterish", so don't forget also to be prepared for higher CAT's landings. Always be prepared for worse conditions that are corrently exist. CAT I conditions might change quickly into CAT II or III. Don't forget to set the minimums.

Remember, the above recomendations are given so they would be set during preflight, so that should the actual procedures be as predicted, the workload is much lowered. They are not to replace the actual ATIS listening. Also, maintain constant communication with the controllers and ask about your expected approch and transition. Stay allert for swiches, and as the NAV radios are set to ILS34, also be prepared for 29 in the standby fields.

And general recommendations, are as usual: Pay attention to the taxiways, count carefully how many junctions you have passed in order not to miss your turn during taxi. In addition, ready all sorrounding navigation beacons' frequencies and proper CRS's, and follow the SID with it and with the charts as well. Just to be ready to any direction from ATC should it come. Do not do what you are not specifically cleared to, if doubt ask ATC again. And again.
It's also highly recommended to use all COMM freq fields, and set them in advance for the stations you are about to contact, so that only one button's push is required to switch frequency inflight. It reduces the work load of that time, and improves the traffic flow. Also, don't rush to report in the channel, listen for 2 seconds and check if there isn't a pilot about to readback. The channel might be busy anyway, in case of an event such as this.

For any problems, questions, requests or issues of any kind, feel free to contact me, IL-FOC, as well as Micha (IL-EC) and Asi (IL-DIR). All of us will be glad to help.

That's it, thank you for joining us, in the name of all the IVAO Israel staff and members, have fun with our Weekly Flight event, have a great flight experience, and may the number of the takeoffs be equal to the landings'!

    Dear Pilots,

Ready the FMC correctly with all the details required for the flight, ready the whole system fully for pushback BEFORE the clearance, except for the details supplied by the clearance itself, and don't forget the coffee of tea that would keep you allert during departure.

For departure, the expected runway is 34L, and the SID would probobly be GILIO5, get the charts ready.

STAR in use, for RNAV equipped aircrafts, would be KALIK1Z, it's highly recommended that you'll enter it even during preflight. In addition, It's highly recommended and highly probable that we'll land on runway 35L, because of it's shorter distance from the terminal. Ready the ILS approach in time during CRZ, and just in case, enter the 35R ILS freq in the standby NAV1/2 field, should there would be a change during actual approach. For your attention, if you really don't want to go around, and there's an aircraft on the runway, try requesting even during approach itself vectors to the other parallel runway's ILS (ex - 35L-35R).

Royal Rain Operation in Thailand 30/03/2005 07/07/2005 Hot season is approaching. The land is getting dry. Where is the rain? Agriculture and farmers is lacking out of water.
Looking at the sky, we see huge clouds. But, how can we bring clouds down to the land?

His Majesty of King Rama IX has studied and establised the royal team for Royal Rain mission.
ฝนหลวง = Fon Hluang = Royal Rain is the rain made by chemical reaction.

This can be done when there is enough cloud formation for raining, ie, Towering Cumulus, Cumulonimbus.
    60~100%RH (Relative Humudity) is required.

Q : How to simulate flight?
A : Imagine that there is clouds and sufficient RH in the area of operation.
Once you login, you send flight plan stating scope of area you are going to do the mission. Airspace will be reserved for you.
After that, you follow procedure as ATC instructs. ATC will radar monitor and detour non-royal rain traffic away from you.
    Have fun!!!
Expect radar vector back to airport.

Formation flight is great and more realistic.

It is recommended to fly with aircraft that can spray chemichal, smoke,
for example, Cessna Grand Caravan 208B (not mandatory).
    Please also prepare Thailand map.

Read original idea here (Thai language) : here

This event is long for whole April. See you_naja.

NAAC leg 4 - BGSF to CYYT 21/03/2004 28/03/2004 It is time to leave Soendre Stroemfiord and make the final jump across the Atlantic Ocean in our North Atlantic Challenge. At first sight (check the NAAC-webpage) you may think this trip is a piece of cake but keep in mind the treacherous weather that hounts this part of the world. You'll most likely have to deal with strong winds, low visibility and ICING. But we've all learned alot since the first flight into Vágar - I'm sure you all remember - so we, the DK-Staff, are confident that you will all make it. The events starts at 1400 UTC. For charts, scenery and all the background information you can imagine go to the NAAC-webpage: http://hjem.get2net.dk/stephen3/NAAC/NAAC.htm

North Atlantic Challenge - Leg 3 29/02/2004 07/03/2004 After a couple of weeks relaxation it's finally time to continue the North Atlantic Challenge. This leg (leg3) will be something quite interesting for all you hazardous pilots. You will be departing from Reykjavik and either fly directly to Soendre Stroemfiord, which is the destination of this leg, or you can choose to make a stop-over at Kulusuk, get a cup of cofee and continue to BGSF... BGFF is a rather small airfield, which doesn't handle anything bigger than turboprops. The only way into the airport is via an NDB- or visual approach. Are you up for the challenge? I thought so, visit the NAAC-webpage for additional information about the leg and charts: http://hjem.get2net.dk/stephen3/NAAC/NAAC.htm There will be full ATC all the way from Reykjavik to Soendre Stroemfiord See you next Sunday
