Egypt Online Day

Every Saturday IVAO Egypt will hold an Online Day Event, which will take place from 18z-21z. The event will consist of two or more aerodromes or TMAs offering FULL ATC for the duration of the event. Each Online Day will be in different locations, the locations will be chosen by members through voting through our EG Discord channel or through our EG Facebook page, the locations that receive the most votes will be those that will participate in the event.

Voting will start on Monday, and will end on the Thursday preceding the Saturday of the event.

Brazil Events and Tours Department is pleased to present our event titled "Aperte o Cinto" (Fasten the Belt, in Portuguese).

This week we celebrated the birthday of the Brazilian inventor Alberto Santos-Dumont (1873-1932) who first flew an heavier-than-air machine doing an unaided takeoff in front of a large crowd in the Château de Bagatelle, Paris. The 14-Bis, also known as Oiseau de proie ("bird of prey" in French) first flew in 23 October 1906, flying over 50 m (160 ft) at an altitude of 3–5 m (9.8–16.4 ft), completely on itself without the usage of external tools, like rails, cables, catapults or even headwind. The "father of aviation" later created the Demoiselle (the name is a synonym for "jeune fille"—young girl or woman—but also the common name in French for a Damselfly), a lightweight monoplane with very good performance.

To honor this amazing inventor, the main airport in downtown Rio de Janeiro, widely known for its short runway and challenging approach, is named after him.
